Artisan Kama-iri cha is a rare Japanese green tea that is an older style than famous sencha- produced by traditional craft artisans. The process of making this style of green tea began in China, however, it is a specialty of Kyushu, Japan. It is a light, fresh flavored green tea and it has a unique, sweet scent. What distinguishes it from all other types of Japanese greens is how the oxidation of the leaves is halted: all other Japanese green teas are steamed, Kama-Iri Cha is pan-fired on a large pan. It is a Japanese green tea whose oxidation is stopped in traditional Chinese methods! Our Artisan Kama-Iri Cha has a deep olive-green color without any luster, with an aroma similar to Chinese green tea. Once steeped, its liquor is a brilliant golden yellow with a fresh, light flavor; it has a unique, very refreshing character, mild roasted flavors, and a heady sweet scent. |
